Lead Your Way
Be the boss of your own cookie business or direct a team of volunteers for a Gold Award project. However you choose to lead, you’ll learn to make smart decisions, act fairly and responsibly, and let yourself shine.
Learn new skills to earn Girl Scout badges in engineering, leadership, theater, advocacy, arts, camping, entrepreneurship, and more! Then apply those skills to make a difference in your community through a Leadership Journey or by earning a Girl Scout Bronze, Silver, or Gold Award.
Team up with a friend or neighbor to start a Girl Scout troop, where you’ll encourage Girl Scouts to be brave, have fun, and help their community—you’ll even make some friends of your own along the way!
You’ll have a whole Girl Scout support team behind you, who will provide you with training, meeting plans, and a network of other volunteers to help you feel comfortable and confident as a leader.
Girl Scouts is more than an activity—it’s a Movement dedicated to building girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place.
Why do kids love being Girl Scouts?
Girl Scouts is a way of life that brings out the best in your kid, even in the most challenging of times. While they’re learning about STEM, the outdoors, entrepreneurship, and important life skills, Girl Scouts are also discovering new ways to make their family and community stronger, kinder, and better for everyone.
How does it work? What’s a “troop”?
Groups of Girl Scouts, called troops, typically meet once or twice per month for an hour or two. Guided by adult volunteers, troop members choose hands-on activities and projects that excite them, try new things, and cheer each other on. Together, they earn badges to reflect their successes and show the world what they’re made of.
What’s the goal?
Making sure girls are given the opportunity to reach their full potential by developing values and skills that will lead them to happier lives.
When can I get started?
If your kid is ready to let their best self shine and start creating the world they want to see, they’re ready to be a Girl Scout. A Girl Scout membership is $25* per year. Our membership year starts on October 1 and lasts until September 30 of the following year, and new members join year-round!
Girl Scouts River Valleys welcomes all youth and adult members regardless of their ability to pay. Financial Assistance is available to help cover membership fees, troop dues and expenses, uniforms, supplies, events, summer camp, and more.
